The model
A physical piece — a painting, a sculpture, a print edition — gets a unique item in pallet-uniques (the native collection/item pallet) inside the artist's collection. The item carries metadata, a reference to evidence (photographs, certificate, condition report) committed through pallet-blob-storage, and a royalty rule in pallet-nft-royalties that the runtime applies on every on-chain resale.
Eoonia's Creator Studio documents this as the Art & Physical Studio, one of 46 protocols, mapped to Uniques with royalties.
What the chain guarantees
- Provenance: every transfer is an event; the chain is the ledger of ownership for the digital twin.
- Royalty: the artist's share is applied by the transfer itself, not by a gallery's goodwill.
- Evidence availability: the storage oracle verifies the committed documents can still be retrieved.
- Identity, optionally: the artist's
did:empfrom KryptoOS as the issuer of the collection; a verified-human credential earns up to 50 % off minting fees.
What the chain cannot guarantee
That the physical object matches the twin. That is a custody and attestation problem — a registered device photographing the piece, a credentialed appraiser signing a report — which the device registry and identity pallets can support and no chain can solve alone.
Fees
Creating a collection: 0.000120 DMS. Minting an item: ~0.000075. Committing 1 MB of evidence: 0.000095. Fractions of a cent, measured on the testnet.
Fractions
pallet-fractional-nft lets a single work be owned in shares, with an oracle for valuation — the Fractional NFT Studio in the index. Wired, unexercised, and squarely in regulated-asset territory once real money is involved.
Status
Pallets in runtime 220; studio documented in Eoonia; fees measured. No artist has minted a physical twin on the public testnet. No residency, no fair, no exhibition — the page this replaces described one for another ecosystem. The first artist's collection, with its first royalty applied on a real resale, will be reported here.
